I’m still alive I promise! In apology for falling off the face of the planet for the last couple of months I offer a recap and a new song!
As you may remember I ran a kickstarter project for my new album. The first attempt failed, but the second attempt (with a lowered goal) suceeded. Thank you, everyone who helped with that! If you didn’t get a chance and would still like to help, I may be running another project to cover the rest of the expenses once I have a better idea of how much I’m short. I’m paying a higher rate on a few things than I was expecting, so expect more details in the September newsletter.
I came home from MN and performed at Ye Merrie Greenwood renaissance Faire with Bards of a Feather and Jeri Lynn Cornish. It was my first paid renfaire gig, and it went fantastically well, even the bit where it rained!
I followed that up with a concert at Westercon with Alexander James Adams, Betsy Tinney, Rob Lindfors and Mickey Phoenix. I got to play with a wireless mic and have fallen in love. I MUST own one of my own someday!!! The show was great, except for the part where the livestream of the concert failed to work (sorry for that, insurmountable technical difficulties got in the way).
From there I dove into working on the new album (which is going well). So far I have 7 guitar tracks recorded featuring Rob Lindfors, and a little clean electric guitar on two songs. Next week adds S.J. Tucker on guitar for 3 more songs! AJA and I have both laid down some of the scratch vocals, and we’ve done much plotting of how things should sound when all is said and done.
Also, in the past week I have managed to go from 1 to 14 performances scheduled for August! See the schedule page for more details, but the quick version is this:
Faerieworlds (Eugene, OR), Friday July 27th 7:15pm
Midsummer Renaissance Faire (Buckley, WA), Sat. & Sun. First three weekends of August, 2 shows a day
Rendezvous Complex (Seattle, WA), Sun. Aug. 5th, doors at 6pm
With Heather Dale in Port Townsend, WA, Sun. Aug. 12th, doors at 7pm
I’m looking for potential house concert hosts for August 13th in the Port Angeles area (also featuring Heather Dale); late September in Utah; and in Arizona and California in early October. If you have interest or contacts, or questions about any of my existing concerts, please contact me! I’m always happy to hear from you!
And now, the song! I have finally added a new song to my Roses and Ruin live in studio album, called Rosebud in June. Those of you familiar with the song may notice some lyric changes, I rewrote most of the verses to reflect things I love about the area I work at when I’m in MN. I hope you enjoy it!
As usual for this album, my partner in crime was Solarbird of Crime and the Forces of Evil! Whose music is nothing like mine, a fact that we find vastly entertaining considering how often we seem to perform and make music together. Go check out her Trad album Cracksman Betty if you want something more, well, traditional. Check out the rest of her music if you want to hear serious Rage-driven acoustic Elf-metal!
And now I’m off to tell everyone else about it before I head to bed. I hope you are all having a delightful summer, and that I get to see some of you in the coming months!
Yours in Song,
